Blackberry Tour

Corporate wireless recently upgraded my old Blackberry 8830 and I now have a Tour. I have to say this is much nicer. Not only will it run some neat apps, but I don't mind that it has a camera either. Still would like to have a Pre or iPhone, but this will definitely do for now!

iPod Touch

Well, I got an iPod Touch a little over a week ago. So far it's pretty awesome. It took me less than a day before I decided it was time to hack it. That process went very well, and I'm enjoying a lot of third party apps right now. More to come including some links to my favorite Touch related sites.

iPod Touch

Now that the new iPod Touch is out, I have started saving to get one. I really liked the iPhone, but won't switch to AT&T as service where I live is not really good. I see where the Touch doesn't have all the 'built in' apps the iPhone does, but I'm hoping that changes soon.

iPhone

I was able to experiment with an iPhone this week and I must say I liked it. Most things were rather intuitive and overall it was just plain cool. I'd love to have one of my own to install apps on, and otherwise hack, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon, especially since the iPhone is on AT&T. I know there are hacks out there to activate it on other networks (i.e. Rogers) but I'm stuck with CDMA for the time being.

BugMe! NotePad Rules!

Once upon a time I used a paper planner. One of the benefits of the planner was that if you didn't have planner on you, you could jot notes down on a sticky pad for later placement in your planner.

After moving to a PDA, this is one of the things I missed, being able to jot down a quick note. I recently had the chance to review BugMe! Notepad . If you haven’t tried it, give it a try. I tried several similar applications, but was really surprised when I found out how powerful BugMe! NotePad is.

Not only are you able to take scrollable notes (for those long lists :-) ), create sketches, and more, but you can import a picture (i.e. map, etc.) and make notes on the picture. And here’s where having BugMe! NotePad on a PDA beats the socks off the old paper planner. No paper planner (that I know about) was able to set alarms for the old sticky notes. BugMe! Allows you to set alarms in a very easy, but powerful way. You can either choose a time increment to count down, or choose ‘Custom’ and select the time for the alarm to go off

If you have a Smartphone, BugMe! NotePad is much more powerful. On my Treo 650 I have the ability to take a picture by going to Camera from the BugMe application, save the picture and BugMe! opens back up with the picture available for you scribbling pleasure. Then you can save the file as a .jpg, select ‘Send’ from the menu, and send it off to someone with a very clearly marked way of demonstrating just what you want them to see.

Check out the long list of some of the features, Note the very handy ‘Screen Shot’ feature and even voice notes for the Treo 650. This app is packed full of handy features!!

BlackBerry Coming

Well, the company I work for is providing us with BlackBerries and AirCards. I'm kinda looking forward to the BB and definately the AirCard. I only want to carry one device and am kind of concerned about not having the functionality I enjoy with my Treo. I have a lot of different applications that I use for different purposes. Some that are free and some that I bought. I am concerned about having the applications I need avaliable on the BB. But it will give me a chance to learn another device, so we'll see what happens.

TreoAlarm

I've been traveling a good bit lately, and I need alarms to wake me in the morning. Notice I said alarms, plural. I usually set the bedside alarm, get a wakeup call, and set an alarm on my Treo. I have tried numerous alarm programs and could not rely on any of them to wake me. TreoAlarm is different. Not only does it have a very persistent alarm, but also has some other great features. When it awakens you, you can look at the screen and instantly see what the weather forecast for that day is, as well as several more days. It can also do multiple locations, which is great for someone that travels. You can set a total of 8 alarms, which can be set with very flexible scheduling in mind. When that alarm goes off, several things can be set to happen. The weather can be updated and the time synchronized. The alarms are very persistent, and are able to wake even a hard sleeper such as myself. If you wish, you can select 'Snooze' when it goes off, and catch a few more winks. Try it at http://www.treoalarm.com/home/index. Oh and by the way, it doesn't take much space either, and it also will turn your phone off and on at preset times, saving battery life. It's a great program!!
